The Beauty of a Fall Rain

There is something beautiful about a rainy fall day.

A season just bursting with color.

The sound of rain drops falling...

Bubbles of rain forming on newly bare branches

Fresh drops lightly hitting the brightly colored leaves

A perfect day for staying cuddled up indoors homeschooling and reading a great book.

A perfect day to step out and enjoy the beauty of God's creation.

Gorgeous fall moments

Totally worth stepping out in the rain for a few minutes to capture the amazing beauty right outside my front door.

Make sure you take a minute and enjoy the beauty of a rainy fall day!

Hurry... those rain drop are about to turn into snowflakes!

A Leafy Day

My girls love the leaves.

They can't wait for them to fall.

Leaves in the backyard mean hours and hours of play

The leaves made houses and forts and campsites and piles.

This Mom is thankful for something free creating so much imaginative and creative play

A sunny, fun, leafy day

And, you can find me blogging about True Joy over at Seeds of Faith today!

Gorgeous Fall Fun

I love sunny fall days.

I am so thankful for these days...

Bright blue skies and cool temperatures warmed by the warm sunshine.
They are perfect days to play outside and enjoy the weather before winter comes.

Our neighbors, who sadly will be moving in March due to his job in the Air Force, have a wonderful tree house and trampoline. Our kids all love to play in their backyard!

(and when I say sadly, I mean very sadly...)
Time outside with friends...

Imagining, playing, pretending, singing, climbing and jumping
 Enjoying these gorgeous fall days...
Thankful for friends and good times!

Thankful Thursday

Fall Fun and Some Crazy Chili

Our church hayride was last Saturday.

Every year, we go out to a farm and enjoy a time of fall fun.

Tractors, cows, dogs, cats, bonfire, marshmallows, hayride, falling leaves, pumpkins and even a zip line.

A zip line constructed of a John Deere tractor, a wire, a chain and a really big tree.

It doesn't get better than that...

My girls had a blast on the zip line.

They LOVED the cows, especially Abby... and the cows seemed to like her too.
They pretended to be farmers with hay in their teeth.

And, we all ate lots of chili... 17 crock pots of chili!

You see, we have a chili contest. Remember last year?

Well, this year, he had to do something even crazier...

He and Elayna went squirrel hunting a few weeks ago. Elayna had her special apprentice hunting license which made her Daddy so proud. They spent the night in the woods, shot some squirrels and had a good ole time.

My husband hates to waste anything.

Even squirrel meat.

So what did he do?

You see where this is going?

Yeah. You guessed it.

He made squirrel chili. No joke.

Neither of his chilis won the contest this year, but a few people did really like his squirrel chili.

Jeremy sure liked it.

Here he is eating a bowl of his 3 Meat Chili and grinning that big Goodwin grin that I love so much.

We went on a hayride and the girls got to pick pumpkins. I now have 3 amazing pumpkins sitting on my front porch.

As I said on Tuesday, I do LOVE the season of fall.

(Did you see I'm giving away a book if you comment on that post?)

Fall is a season of happy family times and I want to soak up every second.

Ten Things I Love About Fall

Top Ten {Tuesday}

I don't have a favorite season...

I truly love them all. That's what growing up in a full four seasons state will do to you.

I love snow and Christmas and candy canes.

I love flowers and green buds on the trees and birds chirping.

I love the beach and sunshine and picnics.

But...

since fall is here.

I will share my loves of the season I am in right now.

My love of fall...

1} Cool, crisp mornings

2} Bright reds, yellows, and oranges all around

3} Golden corn fields

4} Falling leaves

5} Sitting outside with coffee

6} Pumpkin decorations and recipes

7} Apple Cider

8} Jeans and sweaters

9} A time of thanks

10} Blustery days outside while I sit with a blanket and a book inside

What is your favorite thing about the season of fall?

And for something fun, I have a great book for a blustery fall day to give away to one of you.

The author herself sent me this autographed book through a twitter contest. I fell so in love with it that I had to have the whole trilogy on my laptop kindle.

I'm sharing the love by giving away my printed book!

Just leave a comment to enter... I'll pick a winner on Thursday.
