Valentine's Day Fondue Edition... Goodwin style
1} When a holiday comes around, I can expect my husband to make it special. and eventful. and lots of fun. This year, his idea was fondue.
2} You see, he didn't just want chocolate fondue, or even just cheese fondue. Nope. He always adds in something special and our fondue needed something special.
3} Yes, that is our camping propane grill sitting on a folding table in my tiny kitchen. No Goodwin fondue dinner is complete without grilled meat. and plenty of sauces.
4} Oh, and don't forget some shrimp. and pepperoni.
5} Did I mention the camping propane grill in my tiny kitchen? It created a romantic, slightly smokey atmosphere.
6} Fondue with 3 children in a tiny kitchen makes for big messes. but, as always, lots of fun.
7} Even with all of Daddy's fancy fondue additions, the chocolate will always be his girls' favorite thing.
8} Fondue is not fondue without marshmallows.
9} And, a holiday wouldn't be complete without presents. (Yes, my kitchen really was THAT messy.) Presents from a man who can't pass up a good deal. Saving 90% off Christmas candy and keeping it hidden until Valentine's Day. The girls loved their reindeer M&Ms and I sure loved my mint chocolate candy canes.
10} Tissue paper flowers from Elayna standing next to glittery dollar store roses leftover from Annalise's birthday party. Decorations from the heart... beautiful and priceless.
I just have to add one more...
11} The little heart craft that all three girls worked together on will find itself on our next Christmas tree and every one after that... Elayna colored the blue (her favorite color), Annalise filled in the letters (she has always loved details) and Abby colored the yellow and added the glitter (she loves bling).
We did eventually clear our house of the smokey smell, my kitchen is now clean with everything back in it's place and the Goodwin's had a fantastic fondue Valentine's Day dinner.
Thanks to a very creative man... a man these Goodwin girls love very much.
FYI: My husband did get me more than candy canes for Valentine's Day. Lots of yummy gluten free desserts and treats surprised me in the kitchen today. He is so thoughtful and I'm so thankful for him!
